May 30, 2011 - I recently finished composing the score to a Walt Disney film called the United directed by Amin Matalqa and produced by Rachel Gandin. The film is amazing. And the score isn't too shabby either ;) It's one of my more ambitious scores. From huge orchestral tracks, to over the top electronica, there is definitely something for everyone in this score. December 10, 2009 - What a crazy year this has been. All the talk of recession, and I was in panic mode like everyone else. Thankfully, it turned out far different then that and I had a busy and fun-filled year.

To sum up 09:

The Taqwacores, a film I scored earlier in the year that is based on Michael Muhammad Knight's cult classic book of the same name, just got accepted into Sundance. I must say, it's an excellent film and director Eyad Zahra did an amazing job. RE: the music, walls of guitar feedback, distorted celli and violins. The score should be available for sale sometime in 2010.

I just finished scoring comedian, Ahmed Ahmed's directorial debut, a feature length documentary called Just Like Us. Ahmed is one of funniest guys I know, which means that I spent the last two months laughing more then I have laughed in a long time. Musically, it is east, west, and all things in-between. I even got to throw in an homage to one of my favorite genres of music (aside from metal), late 70's/early 80's egyptian disco.

In January of 2009, I decided that one of my goals for the year was to score a cartoon. And then out of nowhere, ABC's The Goode Family falls in my lap. And it's a Mike Judge show (King of the Hill, Office Space, Beavis & Butthead). The show came by way of fellow composer, Brad Chiet, who needed some help with the rigorous schedule that episodic television can be. I ended up writing on seven episodes.

A great deal of 2008 was occupied with writing a series of musical pieces called Hotpress for Leopold. What was supposed to be primarily loosy-goosy instrumental pieces turned into a full blown sing-song album. Initially intended for the trailer market, the nice people at Groove Addicts liked it so much they decided to release it to the public. As of August 2009, you can purchase the album on all major music sites.

I spent a large part of summer 2009 working on Ben Hur Live, a stadium sized touring interpretation of the original story. Stewart Copeland was the composer, and having worked together before, he asked me to come aboard and help out.
